Customer Evangelist

MonkDev (Monk Development, Inc.) – an industry leading, innovative web development and software as a service company based in San Diego, CA – seeks a Customer Evangelist to lead our marketing/communications efforts.   MonkDev is one of the largest web developers and fastest growing private companies in San Diego.  We provide web solutions across all industries but we are thought leaders in the non-profit space, where thousands of churches, ministries and other non-profits use our services and technology.  This person will be responsible for positioning MonkDev in our markets by developing and implementing strategic marketing, messaging and public relations initiatives.  We seek a highly creative, entrepreneurial marketing/communication professional with an understanding of the non-profit market. 

Our ideal candidate will be able to do much of the following:

  • Develop, drive and evaluate communications strategies and programs.
  • Implement the marketing planning process.
  • Develop and maintain actionable data on current and target customers  
  • Develop and manage communications assets 
  • Manage all website updates and enhancements. 
  • Drive traffic to corporate & product websites 
  • Ensure best-in-class experience with the website, maximizing user satisfaction 
  • Develop and execute strategy, including use of social media, to maximize on-line support of specific product and brand objectives 
  • Lead the planning process for conferences/trade shows, to ensure quality, timely execution within budget 
  • Develop and execute Public Relations plans  
  • Be recognized as an authority and thought leader and contribute to the development and adoption of innovative principles and ideas in our markets.   

 Other qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of marketing and communication experience
  • Ability to link communications plans and activities to business results
  • Superior writing and editing skills - recognized for "perfection" of writing and editing skills   
  • Superior listening and interpersonal skills
  • Superior organization and program management skills
  • Must have demonstrated experience in providing marketing leadership within an organization.
  • Proven experience managing, leading, driving and measuring teams toward common goal
  • Consultative skills
  • Self-starter who is a customer-obsessed, results-oriented, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic team player that gets excited about the controlled chaos of a high growth startup. 
  • Ability to work with highly technical teams and handle multiple projects in an agile, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in rapid iteration.
  • Requires travel.

The Customer Evangelist will work closely with the executive team (CEO, CTO, COO), project team, product manager and designers.   The position is based in San Diego.
